Did you know that being in a sealed space for long periods of time can be hazardous to your health?  These days we are spending more and more time in enclosed offices with no fresh circulating air. 

Here are 10 quick tips to make your work less hazardous to your health…

Introduce live plants into the office.  They do take a bit of maintenance, but they provide oxygen and a piece of the living environment into your space.

TIP 2

If you can, turn off the air conditioner and open the windows.  This will not only regenerate the air, it will also regenerate you!

TIP 3

If you can’t open the windows, to prevent re circulating particulates and toxins, make sure your air conditioner is checked and maintained on a regular basis.

TIP 4

Reduce chemicals in the air, use biodegradable cleaning products. Exchange conventional cleaning clothes for microfibre clothes. They trap and pick up dust whereas conventional clothes push dust around.

TIP 5

Keep office equipment away from workspaces. Office equipment produces electromagnetic fields that disrupt the bodies natural electrical fields causing lethargy, headaches and other health hazards.

TIP 6

Get out of the office and go for a 10-minute walk, or just sit quietly in a park.  You’ll be surprised how rejuvenating a short break can be.  Filling your lungs with new air can clear your mind and spur your creativity.

TIP 7

Eat something you enjoy, food can help nourish the soul and give you joy as well as energy to keep going.

TIP 8

Brighten your day, keep flowers on your desk.  Start an office pool with your workmates to ensure you all enjoy the benefits of nature.

TIP 9

Know your limits.  You can only do what you can do. Don’t over commit yourself, your health will end up paying for it.

TIP 10

Start the day with a SMILE J (even if you don’t feel like it) Not only will you feel better, you’ll start a trend.
