As 2025 comes to a close, sexual wellness has proven to be more vibrant, inclusive, and diverse than ever. According to the Lovehoney Group’s 2025 Sex Trends Report, this year has been transformative — offering new ways to explore pleasure, identity, and self-expression.
From sober sex to exploring erogenous zones beyond the genitals, these are the trends that have shaped intimate lives throughout the year.

1. Sex as a Political Statement
This year, sex has increasingly become a form of self-expression and political empowerment. People have aligned their sexual choices with movements advocating for bodily autonomy, gender equality, and sexual liberation.
Movements like #boysober, which encourages women to take a break from sex to focus on self-care, and Korea’s 4B movement, which rejects traditional expectations around dating, marriage, and child-rearing, have highlighted how sexual choices can be political statements.
Verena Singmann, Head of PR at Lovehoney Group, noted that these conversations have emphasised the need for inclusive discussions about sexuality, allowing people to explore pleasure without judgment.

2. The Rise of Sober Sex
Sober sex has gained momentum in 2025 as part of a broader focus on wellness and mindfulness. More people have chosen to engage in sex without alcohol or substances, aiming for clearer communication, heightened sensations, and stronger emotional connections.
Christine Rafe, sex expert at Womanizer, explained that this trend reflects a desire for authentic, fully present intimate experiences. By skipping the “social lubricant,” people have rediscovered the joy of unclouded connection, whether in casual encounters or long-term relationships.
3. Exploring New Erogenous Zones
This year has seen a growing interest in erogenous zones beyond the genitals. People have explored the neck, wrists, feet, and other areas previously considered taboo, using techniques like temperature play, feather-light touches, and deep pressure to expand their pleasure map.
Elisabeth Neumann, Head of User Research at Lovehoney Group, highlighted that anal exploration has become more accepted — not only for penetration, but as a broad source of pleasure. This trend has encouraged body awareness and self-discovery, empowering people of all abilities to access sexual fulfillment.

4. Fluid Identity and Relationships
2025 has continued to see a rise in fluidity around sexual identities and relationships. Many have moved away from rigid structures, exploring ethical non-monogamy, including open relationships and polyamory, emphasising communication, consent, and mutual respect.
At the same time, recognition of non-binary, gender-fluid, and agender identities has grown, breaking down pressures to fit into labels like “heterosexual” or “homosexual.” This cultural shift has influenced workplaces, healthcare, and public spaces, making them more inclusive and accepting.

5. Holistic Pleasure
This year, sexual wellness has embraced a holistic approach, integrating mind, body, and emotional wellbeing. People have prioritised emotional safety and mental health, alongside physical pleasure, in their intimate experiences.
Sex toys like the We-Vibe Moxie+ and We-Vibe Chorus have reflected this shift, offering discreet, integrated pleasure. Sex-positive communities and supportive spaces have grown, providing environments where people could explore desires without judgment.
Additionally, many have incorporated therapy, counseling, and sex education into their sexual wellness routines, addressing anxiety, body image, and past trauma — ensuring emotional wellbeing has been as central as physical pleasure.
