Gourmet Traveller has announced the finalists in the 2022 Restaurant Awards and the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Hospitality Award goes to Amy Chanta. As a chef and business woman, Amy Chanta was instrumental in shaping Sydney's Thai food scene when she opened the first Chat Thai restaurant in 1989 on Liverpool Street in Darlinghurst. Gourmet Traveller’s October issue pays tribute to Amy who sadly passed away earlier this year. In tribute to Amy, the issue will showcase a selection of her signature recipes, as shared by her daughter Palisa Anderson.

[caption id="attachment_128447" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Finalist for the Best New Restaurant Award is Ho Jiak in Sydney.[/caption] Speaking about the finalists, Gourmet Traveller, Joanna Hunkin said one of the most exciting parts of this year's awards is how many new restaurants feature.
“It is testament to both the creativity and resilience of the industry that new venues have continued to open since March last year, offering new and exceptional experiences.
