Could a Copper Water Bottle Be the Wellness Hack You Didn’t Know You Needed?

Like many young professionals, Shawn Singh hit a wall in his late twenties. Despite holding down a high-flying operations role at a successful start-up, he felt constantly fatigued, uninspired, and physically run down. “I was sluggish and lethargic. I couldn’t get out of bed, lost the drive to work out, and just felt like I was going through the motions. Wake up, work, come home, repeat,” he says.

At his mother’s urging, Singh sought the advice of an Ayurvedic practitioner. Their prescription was not supplements or a dramatic detox, but a simple shift in how he hydrated. “She suggested I start drinking from a copper water bottle,” he says. “At first, I was sceptical, but I gave it a go. And, it really did change how I felt. My energy levels lifted, my mental clarity improved. It was like I had my old self back.”

But when Singh lost his precious copper bottle and struggled to find a quality replacement, the idea for Copper Culture was born.

Launched at the end of 2022, Copper Culture is now Australia’s go-to brand for high-quality, handcrafted copper drinkware. Skilled artisans in India ethically craft the bottles (and now jugs, mugs, coasters, and bracelets) using 99% pure copper. And, the craftspeople design each product to last up to 50 years.

However, while Singh knew copper bottles were beautiful, he also knew their benefits could be a game changer for people feeling run down or out of balance.

And so, although their aesthetic certainly appeals, it’s the wellness benefits that keep customers coming back. According to ayverdic principles, Copper, when stored correctly in water for at least three hours, naturally kills bacteria like E.Coli and S.aureus. Copper-infused water is also believed to reduce inflammation, boost skin health, support weight loss and increase energy levels. And, Singh swears by these benefits.

“People are so surprised when they try it. But, the feedback is amazing,” Singh says. “We’ve had customers tell us their skin has improved, they feel more energised, and even that their bloating has eased.”

“It’s really important to me that we’re not just selling a beautiful product,” he says. “We’re honouring a rich tradition and sharing something that genuinely supports people’s wellbeing.”

Since launching in late 2022, Copper Culture has attracted a loyal community of copper converts. Many customers initially choose the product for its health potential. But, they stay because the brand embodies strong values. “People love that we’re an Australian business giving back to artisans in a developing country. It feels good to support something that’s both ethical and effective,” Singh says.

As the business scales, Singh remains grounded in his purpose: “Copper Culture started from a very personal place. I wanted to feel alive again. And now, we’re helping thousands of people do the same.”
